I always remember people asking me whenever I say SEO… wa wa what is that? What is ES-I-OWww? Others even say it> SEYOW? :))
I can still recall their tone. So curious, just like how I was before..
Prior to my accumulation of information about SEO, I have known that it has been around already for many years.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is considered as the more technical part of Web marketing. This is the term relating to the “race” to the top of search engine results. It is like when you are searching for a certain keyword (say in google), for example having the keyword “Albay Philippines”, the first site on the list for Albay Philippines search is the winner. Meaning, that site is well-optimized. An SEO expert’s goal therefore is to run the race to make sure that the site he is developing/maintaining is at the top search results of any search engine, especially in google.
SEO does help in the promotion of sites. This striclty requires some technical knowledge – at least familiarity with basic HTML. SEO is sometimes also called SEO copyrighting since lots of techniques used to promote sites in search engines are dealing with text.
It is not so easy to be an SEO expert because there might come a time that even if you work all day, all week, or all over the month, you are not automatically guaranteed to get the top ratings. However, it takes time before you reap the crops. You must always make sure that you don’t neglect basic rules, or else, your effort will be put into vain. Also, you set realistic goals – say to be at the top 30 results in Google for a particular keyword, rather than be the number one for 10 keywords in 5 search engines, there will be a more satisfied feeling. Later on, you can expect for something better. One desire at a time. You cannot win the race overnight, that’s for sure.
Though SEO helps in increasing the traffic to one's site, SEO is not advertising. Even if you are included in the paid search results for given keywords, the idea behind the SEO techniques is to get top placement because your site is relevant to a particular search term, not for the reason of payment.
SEO can be as short as a 30-minute job but sometimes, it takes 24 hours a day, depending on the goals that you want to attain. If you plan to do some basic SEO, always ensure that you have researched well about how search engines work and which items are most important to consider in SEO.
