What is Article Marketing?

Before, I just ignore this term. And whenever I look for a freelance job and see that they need someone with article marketing skills, I just close the window. That’s because I don’t know what they were talking about. (giggle)

So what is article marketing then?

As I had ventured with a number of freelance projects, I have had better comprehension of the term article marketing, inch by inch.

ARTICLE MARKETING is a type of advertising in which businesses write short articles related to their respective industry. These articles are made available for distribution and publication in the marketplace. Each article contains a bio box and byline that include references and contact information for the author's business. Well-written content articles released for free distribution have the potential of increasing the authoring business' credibility within its market as well as attracting new clients. – wikipedia

Article marketing is a very important technique for Search engine optimization (SEO). Since SEO deals with the order in which webpages are ranked when keywords or phrases are typed into search engines, businesses need to produce articles that will have backlinks to their main site . The higher a page is ranked, the more likely that page will draw a greater number of site visitors. The increased traffic often translates into increased sales for most businesses. In here, article marketing is one very effective technique used for several leading Internet marketing ventures.

Creating backlinks

This process will increase page rank within search engines. Such theory has led to a trend in online marketing toward writing articles for SEO purposes alone. This is usually eferred to as reprint articles. This trend goes along with the wide selection of article marketing directory websites that accept, vet, and provide redistribution of such articles to online publishers.

On the bad side, free distribution of articles has led to a large amount of duplicated content across the Internet. The quality of articles are also being compromised as some authors seek a large quantity of backlinks often in a day.

In my previous projects, I have used UAW, article marketer (AM), SubmitYourArticle (SYA). These are just easy to use. These tools are used for more effective distribution of articles.
